Drive-in Pallet Racking
Workspace drive in racking is a high-density storage solution using the FILO principle ( first in last out ). They are designed for customers with a low number of high volume, high turnover lines where time and volume are of the essence. This storage solution allows much higher pallet densities then selective pallet racking and can be customised to suit your application. Workspace pallet racking has also been tested to AS 4084-2012,and our drive drive-in system is also designed according to FEM 10.2.07.
Description
Some additional information that may assist you in planing your layout, is the following:
Standard distance between frames = 1350mm
Standard distance between rails = 1050mm
Standard rail size is a S-75mm Rail
required clearances between the top of the pallet and the next level as a rule of thumb would be 100mm. This may vary however depending on the height from the ground of the levels, but we will ensure that the Drive-in system complies with the FEM code.
Floor rail is provided as a standard, unless requested otherwise
400mmH Column guards/Pallet Deflectors are supplied at the font of each frame set.
Up to 70% higher density storage. Compared to selective pallet racking and based on the same available floor space, drive in pallet racking offers an incredible 70% greater storage capacity. The reason for this is pallets can be packed more deeply, driving them backwards into the system using a forklift. Stock is guided to its resting location by rails designed to protect the racking and the product from fork lift damage.
There are two main types of Drive-in Racking. Choose the right drive-in racking for your operations, The main 3 type are:
1. (Single drive-in racking, a continuous row with single a single load and retrieval aisle)
2.( Drive-through racking , Nothing to do with burgers (unless you manufacture burger ingredients) Drive through racking is open on both ends allowing a forklift operator to drive in or out from either side. Allowing more flexible use and easier pallet retrieval.
What are the benefits of driving in racking! We’ve already mentioned that drive-in racking increases your storage compacity, therefore lowering your cost per sqm for warehouse storage.
Drove in racking could also be thought as a additional protection. Because only a few stocked pallets are easily accessible by forklift, the remaining pallets aren’t exposed to potential damage. Protection is essential if you organisation works with fragile or high value items. Our drive in racking design is compatible with standard forklift dimensions. Drive in racking can be configured to suit all types of warehouse and logistics operations: depth, lengths and number of levels. Opt for floor-to-ceiling storage, as long as you maintain a clearance between levels of 100mm or greater.
Drive-in Racking system for cold storage: Many industries require temperature-controlled environments or cold storage to preserve their products. The FILO system used for drive-in racking is ideally suited to such industries as food manufacturing or vaccines, and certain types of warehouse with large volumes, limited product lines and wasted cooling spaces. Workspace Systems drive is racking is manufactured with sturdy roll-formed galvanised steel frames, allowing it to last a long time in moist and harsh environments, such as for racking in commercial freezers.
Potential drawback to drive in racking: While there are plenty of advantages to this storage system, we don’t want to appear as one-sided as the racking is. As we know, access is limited to one face, which isn’t ideal for all organisations. The other consideration is a higher risk o9f racking damage by forklifts. When designing and installing your racking, be sure to consider adequate racking protections, such as guard posts, signage and bumpers.
